East-meets-West Renewed

Dear friends,

In the spirit my recent blog posts done in the spirit of Ecumenical Dialogue, specifically geared toward Roman Catholic and Eastern Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Catholic Christian Unity and dialogue, I have decided I will try to renew my East meets West litany of Saints.

So, the commemorations and saints for today in the Roman Catholic Church, according to the Gregorian Calendar for January 6th, A.D. 2017

Today the Virgin cometh to give birth ineffably/ to the preeternal Word in the cave./ Dance, O world! And having heard this,/ with the angels and shepherds glorify// the preeternal God, Who is to appear as a little babe.

The Holy Theophany of Our Lord, God, and Saviour Jesus Christ (Baptism of the Lord)
Troparion, Tone I
When Thou, O Lord, wast baptized in the Jordan,/ the worship of the Trinity was made manifest;/ for, the voice of the Father bare witness unto Thee,/ calling Thee His beloved Son;/ and the Spirit in the form of a dove/ confirmed the certainty of His word./ O Christ our God, Who hast appeared and enlightened the worlds,// glory be to Thee!

Thou hast appeared today to the whole world,/ and Thy light, O Lord, hath been signed upon us/ who hymn Thee with understanding./ Thou hast come, Thou hast appeared,/ the Light unapproachable.

Lord Jesus Christ, we bless you today and commemorate your Nativity, your Revelation to the Gentiles through the Magi, your Baptism in the Jordan by John, and your first Miracle at the Wedding of Cana.

All you holy Saints of God, pray for us!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of the most holy Theotokos, and all of the angels of saints, have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and keep us o God by thy grace!
